PTSD Patrol healing on a lonely road

PTSD Patrol

Being alone can be very depressing. It can be even more so when your job has you away from family and friends. Sometimes you can be lonely even with you are with other people. A police officer can be lonely even sitting next to their partner. Firefighters can be lonely when they are at the station sitting at a table with the others. Truckers are lonely, military members can be lonely and the list goes on.

Right now there are a lot of people who are lonely but when they see people still going out and getting together in groups, it can be even worse. The thing is, you need to remember that even when they are with a lot of other people, some are still lonely.

I have talked to a lot of people over the years, who still lived with family and had friends, but felt all alone. If you have PTSD, you could also feel alone even with others around you. That is why today there are two feature videos. The first is Journey Faithfully and Glen Campbell Wichita Lineman to give you some comfort knowing that there are others who are alone too.

I don't know how many other ways I can put this but if you know what PTSD is and understand that there is nothing to be ashamed of, especially as a survivor, you will open up to others because you know you can explain it to them. It also makes it easier to ask for help. You'll be amazed by how others will help you and stand by you.

Highway run
Into the midnight sun
Wheels go round and round
You're on my mind
Restless hearts
Sleep alone tonight
Sendin' all my love
Along the wire
They say that the road
Ain't no place to start a family
Right down the line
It's been you and me
And lovin' a music man
Ain't always what it's supposed to be
Oh girl you stand by me
I'm forever yours, faithfully
Circus life
Under the big top world
We all need the clowns
To make us smile
Through space and time
Always another show
Wondering where I am
Lost without you
And being apart ain't easy on this love affair
Two strangers learn to fall in love again
I get the joy
Of rediscovering you
Oh girl, you stand by me
I'm forever yours, faithfully
Oh, oh, oh, oh
Faithfully, I'm still yours
I'm forever yours
Ever yours, faithfully

I am a lineman for the county
And I drive the main road
Searchin' in the sun for another overload
I hear you singin' in the wire,
I can hear you through the whine
And the Wichita lineman is still on the line
I know I need a small vacation
But it don't look like rain
And if it snows that stretch down south won't ever stand the strain
And I need you more than want you,
And I want you for all time
And the Wichita lineman is still on the line
And I need you more than want you,
And I want you for all time
And the Wichita lineman is still on the line

PTSD Patrol: On the road with geniuses

The feature video today is Jim Carey. Most people don't know he suffered from depression. I think that was what motivated him to try to make people feel better about the road they were on. Do you want to make your life better? Then remember what it felt like to not know you could, do it and then pass on hope. To quote from Bruce Almighty..."Be the miracle" and make someone's life better than it would have been if you didn't try.

It works the same way when you have PTSD. Change the "world" you live in, heal and pass it on too! Be the miracle in their life."

Brake pads for vehicles when we get bad breaks

Break Pads

When you are grieving, sometimes you need to apply the brakes...so that you can #BreakTheSilence of what you are going through.

Most of the time people do not know what to expect from themselves. You may judge yourself, or expect more from your core.

Instead of dismissing your own emotions, honor what you are feeling so you can being the healing.

If you are angry, then honor it. I yelled at my Dad at the cemetery a few days after his funeral. I chewed out my brother at the funeral home before everyone else got there. I was angry because I wanted them to still be here.

If you are sad, then honor that. They were a part of your life and they still can be in your memories of them. There comes a time when those memories will stop being painful reminders they are gone. The memories become fond ones of times when they were here.

Do not judge yourself or let anyone else judge you for not grieving enough or too much, or taking too long to "get over it" because they did it another way.

Brake pads on vehicles stop us from moving forward. Breaks in our lives can do the same if we let them.

Brake pads also release when needed so that we can move forward. So to breaks in our lives. They release us so that we can move on.
