PTSD Patrol Roadside Assistance

There are many different times you may need help with getting on the road. There are also many different ways someone can help you with what you need in that time.

You may simply need a jump start and then you can ask a neighbor or call someone you know to help you. Other times, you can ask someone you see, who does not been to be a vehicle mechanic, but since you need something really basic, they can get your "vehicle" going again. Once you get recharged, you are on your way again.
Other times, like when you get into an accident, you need a lot more than a jumpstart. You need everything you can get. A tow truck to get your vehicle out of danger. You may need emergency response to get you to the professional medical care you need. Or, you may just need someone to get you back home.

It is the same thing when you are recovering from something traumatic and dealing with PTSD.

PTSD Patrol: Proceed With Caution

PTSD Patrol

July 14, 2020

How many times have you been driving down a road, see a sign with "Proceed with caution" and immediately go on alert? It is human nature because you do not know what you are getting into.

If you have PTSD, get one of these signs and put it where you can see it to remind you to take the time to think before you do something you'll regret.

We have seen examples of what can happen when people are caught on video flipping out. The video goes viral and makes the person famous for the wrong reasons. Then they lose their jobs because their boss and coworkers have just witnessed a side of their character they had no clue existed before that.

Some may think it is no ones business what someone does off the clock, but they are wrong. We get hired to do a job based on our skills and history, but the employer judges our character by what we show them. Show them a video like the viral ones, and no matter what you did in the past, no one will remember it.

With PTSD, part of it is dealing with anger and rage. You need to get control over that and learn how to proceed with caution because if you flip out, especially in public, the results can, and usually do, make it worse.

PTSD Patrol: Trusting road signs?

If you see 👀 a sign on the road do you assume it is telling the truth or do you ignore it? Same thing with people. Trust may be automatic at first until you discover what you believed was a lie.

PTSD Patrol new mission has old reason

PTSD Patrol

July 12, 2020

If you want to know why I gave up working with veterans and started working with everyone dealing with #PTSD it is because of stories like this. "Master Sgt. Andrew 'Andy' Christian Marckesano served 6 full tours in Afghanistan with the 82nd Airborne and the Ranger regiment" and committed suicide because he did not get the help he needed to heal from all that.

There are at least 8 million Americans with PTSD but few groups are doing anything about them suffering. Too many are focusing on "suicide awareness" for veterans, but again, not providing the help or knowledge they need to stay alive. It is so easy to talk about "doing something" but sometimes, it is actually worse than nothing. Master Sgt. Marckesano, should still be alive and he probably would have been if he could have found those who were willing to help him.

I was tired of competing with the groups getting in the way of that after dedicating 38 years of my life to that cause. Having survived traumatic events at least 10 times, I felt I had more to contribute to those who have been forgotten...average citizens and people working on the front lines trying to make a difference.

I ask for no money and gave up my tax exempt. All I ask is that if you find someone, or you need help, know there is someone like me out there to help you find the way to living a happier life. #breakthesilence and #takebackyourlife from #PTSD

I know what PTSD does and I know how to take away the power it has over survivors. I have seen the worst outcomes, but have seen far too many victories to know how important it is to continue to do this work.
“Imagine how many suicide victims would still be with us, if only the right person said the right thing at the right time.”

There won't be a video today. Trying to do an uplifting message after all this, is not going to happen today. Back in operation tomorrow.

PTSD Patrol: What signs are you giving to others?

This is my favorite boss Erica who brought my T-shirt with her to Peru and surprised me at the top of Machu Picchu.
On the road there are many signs to alert you about what you are getting into. What signs are you giving to others? This is just the start of taking back your life. It is like getting to the top of a mountain you thought was just too high for you! #BreakTheSilence and #TakeBackYourLife
