PTSD Patrol Want A New Drug?

PTSD Patrol

September 19, 2020

Yesterday I did not post anything because I was dealing with emergency care for a sinus infection and bronchitis. Thankfully the staff at Wentworth Douglas were spot on because I am feeling better today. The meds are helping. That is why today, the featured video is Huey Lewis and The News "I Want A New Drug."

If the meds you are getting for #PTSD are not helping, talk to your doctors so they try something else to help you. Remember, that is why they are there..... Something may work for a buddy, but that does not mean it will work for you. Keep trying!

Oh
I want a new drug, one that won't make me sick
One that won't make me crash my car
Or make me feel feet, feet, feet thick
I want a new drug, one that won't hurt my head
One that won't make my mouth too dry
Or make my eyes too red
One that won't make me nervous
Wonderin' what to do
One that makes me feel like I feel when I'm with you
When I'm alone with you
I want a new drug, one that won't spill
One that don't cost too much
Or come in a pill
I want a new drug, one that won't go away
One that won't keep me up all night
One that won't make me sleep all day
One that won't make me nervous
Wonderin' what to do
One that makes me feel like I feel when I'm with you
I'm alone with you
I'm alone with you, baby
I want a new drug, one that does what it should
One that won't make me feel too bad
One that won't make me feel too good
I want a new drug, one with no doubt
One that won't make me talk to much
Or make my face break out
One that won't make me nervous
Wonderin' what to do
One that makes me feel like I feel when I'm with you
I'm alone with you
I'm alone with you, yeah, yeah

PTSD Patrol Coming Out Of The Dark

PTSD Patrol
Kathie Costos
September 16, 2020

Today's featured video is Gloria Estefan Coming Out of the Dark...which is exactly what healing #PTSD is like. You may be afraid of the changes you went through after surviving but healing does not have to something to be afraid of if you are not alone. Like the lyrics say, "Why be afraid if I'm not alone...life is never easy. The rest is unknown." #BreakTheSilence and #TakeBackYourLife from PTSD

Why be afraid if I'm not alone
Though life is never easy the rest is unknown
Up to now for me it's been hands against stone
Spent each and every moment
Searching for what to believe
Coming out of the dark, I finally see the light now
It's shining on me
Coming out of the dark I know the love that saved me
You're sharing with me
Starting again is part of the plan
And I'll be so much stronger holding your hand
Step by step I'll make it through I know I can
It may not make it easier but I have felt you
Near all the way
Coming out of the dark, I finally see the light now And it's shining on me (I see the light, I see the light)
See the light (I see the light)
Coming out of the dark I know the love that saved me
You're sharing with me
I stand on the rock of your love
(Forever and ever)
Can't nobody stop me from watching
(Forever, and ever) I stand on the rock of your love
Love is all it takes, no matter what we face
coming out of the dark
I see the light, I feel love shinning on me (shining, shining)
Shining on me
Coming out of the dark I know the love that saved me
You're sharing, you're sharing with me, sharing with me, sharing with me
Coming out of the dark
Making it into the light
Your love shining on me, shining on me, shining on me
Coming out of the dark
I see the light, I see the light (I see the light)
Shining, shining, shining on me
(Shining, shining)
Coming out of the dark
I see the light now
Yes I see the light (shining, shining)

I used this song back in 2006 when I started doing videos for veterans.
Why be afraid if you're not alone? Life is never easy, the rest is unknown. The song is by Gloria Estefan and the first time I heard it, all I could think about were the Vietnam veterans I spent so much time with including my husband. You are not alone fighting to heal PTSD just as you were not alone during combat.

PTSD Patrol You've Got The Power----to heal!

PTSD Patrol
Kathie Costos
September 15, 2020

Today the featured video is a bit different. If is from the movie Bruce Almighty when God gave him the power to do all kinds of things. When you survive whatever caused your #PTSD, you have the power to heal as a survivor already inside of you. The very fact you are watching these videos means you have the power of hope already and that is the start of living a happier life.
Just imagine that you are Bruce and God knew that you would use your power for good eventually. Want to change the world? Then start with yourself and spread the message of healing to others, so they can change the world too! #BreakTheSilence and #TakeBackYourLife

It may not be easy....but it can happen if you believe!

PTSD Patrol In your widest dream

PTSD Patrol

September 14, 2020

If you think there is no hope of a happier life then it is more like a nightmare that doesn't stop. If you know you can heal. then it's more like making your wildest dream come true. Hope is why you survived whatever caused PTSD and hope will help you heal now 🙏 #BreakTheSilence and #TakeBackYourLife from #PTSD

Once upon a time
Once when you were mine
I remember skies
Reflected in your eyes
I wonder where you are
I wonder if you think about me
Once upon a time
In your wildest dreams
Once the world was new
Our bodies felt the morning dew
That greets the brand new day
We couldn't tear ourselves away
I wonder if you care
I wonder if you still remember
Once upon a time
In your wildest dreams
And when the music plays
And when the words are touched with sorrow
When the music plays
I hear the sound I had to follow
Once upon a time
Once beneath the stars
The universe was ours
Love was all we knew
And all I knew was you
I wonder if you know
I wonder if you think about it
Once upon a time
In your wildest dreams

And when the music plays
And when the words are touched with sorrow
When the music plays
And when the music plays
I hear the sound I had to follow
Once upon a time
Once upon a time
Once when you were mine
I remember skies
Mirrored in your eyes
I wonder where you are
I wonder if you think about me
Once upon a time

In your wildest dreams (ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah)
