PTSD Patrol Ventura Highway

PTSD Patrol
Kathie Costos
October 2, 2020

Today the feature video is a America's Ventura Highway."You're gonna go I know 'Cause the free wind is blowin' through Your hair And the days surround your daylight There Seasons crying no despair." to remind you that things can get a lot better than they are right now! #BreakTheSilence and #TakeBackYourLife from #PTSD

Chewing on a piece of grass
Walking down the road
Tell me, how long you gonna stay here Joe?
Some people say this town don't look
Good in snow
You don't care, I know
Ventura Highway in the sunshine
Where the days are longer
The nights are stronger
Than moonshine
You're gonna go I know
'Cause the free wind is blowin' through
Your hair
And the days surround your daylight
There
Seasons crying no despair
Alligator lizards in the air
Wishin' on a falling star
Watchin' for the early train
Sorry boy, but I've been hit by
Purple rain
Aw, come on Joe, you can always
Change your name
Thanks a lot son, just the same
Ventura Highway
In the sunshine
Where the days are longer
The nights are stronger
Than moonshine
You're gonna go I know
'Cause the free wind is blowin' through
Your hair
And the days surround you daylight
There
Seasons crying no despair
Alligator lizards in the air

PTSD Patrol "everyday it seems a little stronger"

PTSD Patrol
Kathie Costos
October 1, 2020

Yesterday was my 36th wedding anniversary! Today's feature video is James Taylor's "Everyday" because it reflects all the changes we have gone through over all these years.

Some thought it wouldn't last, including a lot of years when we also thought it was impossible. Any marriage is hard but when you add in PTSD, along with everything else that comes with it, too many marriages fall apart. It is like living on a rollercoaster!

You can read about most of it in the book I wrote a long time ago, FOR THE LOVE OF JACK, HIS WAR/MY BATTLE but for now, know that nothing is impossible when you know and love one another.

Everyday, it's getting closer,
Going faster than a roller coaster.
A love like yours would surely come my way.
Everyday, seems a little faster,
All my friends, they say go on up and ask her.
A love like yours would surely come my way.

Everyday it seems a little stronger,
Everyday it lasts a little longer.
Come what may, do you ever long for
True love from me?
Everyday seems a little closer,
Going faster than a roller coaster.
A love like yours would surely come my way.
A love like yours would surely come my way, Everyday.

Everyday it seems a little stronger,
Everyday it lasts a little longer.
Come what may, do you ever long for
True love from me?
Like I long from you baby.
Everyday seems a little closer,
Going faster than a roller coaster.
A love like yours would surely come my way.

PTSD Patrol walk in rays of beautiful sun

PTSD Patrol
Kathie Costos
September 30, 2020

After last night, if you watched the horrible debate, it is a good time to be reminded of the fact that things are not as horrible as was on display. We do have a lot to be thankful for and a lot to look forward to. We've been through hard times in our lives. The thing that started PTSD was hard, but as you have seen, things to get a little easier and get a lot brighter.
That is why I picked "Ooo Child" for the feature video today. We can "walk in the rays of a beautiful sun again" and our "heads can be a lot lighter." #BreakTheSilence and #TakeBackYourLife from #PTSD

Ooh child
Things are gonna get easier
Ooh child
Things'll get brighter
Ooh child
Things are gonna get easier
Ooh child
Things'll get brighter
Some day, yeah
We'll put it together and we'll get it undone
Some day
When your head is much lighter
Some day, yeah
We'll walk in the rays of a beautiful sun
Some day
When the world is much brighter........

PTSD Patrol no time for pain

PTSD Patrol
Kathie Costos
September 29, 2020

There was a time when all I had time for was praying to God that my pain would end. It is one thing to have physical pain, but when you have spiritual pain, that wrecks everything!

It may sound strange to you, but there are a lot of "love" songs that I find spiritually healing.

There are a lot of love songs that mean something deeper to me. There is a spiritual connection made with many of them. The feature video today is Carlie Simon "I Haven't Got Time For The Pain."

When I was having a really hard time spiritually, this song made me feel more hopeful about the next minutes in time. If you thing about some songs that mean more to you than others, you'll know exactly what I mean. So when you are in spiritual pain, find a song that makes you feel relief and you won't have time for the pain because you are filling yourself up with hope! #BreakTheSilence and #TakeBackYourLife from #PTSD
All those crazy nights when I cried myself to sleep
Now melodrama never makes me weep anymore
'cause I haven't got time for the pain
I haven't got room for the pain
I haven't the need for the pain
Not since I've known you
You showed me how, how to leave myself behind
How to turn down the noise in my mind
Now I haven't got time for the pain
I haven't got room for the pain
I haven't the need for the pain
Not since I've known you
Suffering was the only thing that made me feel I was alive
Though that's just how much it cost to survive in this world
'til you showed me how, how to fill my heart with love
How to open up and drink in all that white light
Pouring down from the heaven
I haven't got time for the pain
I haven't got room for the pain
I haven't the need for the pain
Not since I've known you

PTSD Patrol honoring your feelings

PTSD Patrol
Kathie Costos
September 28, 2020

Sometimes we have to honor our pain and loneliness. That is why I picked Neil Diamond I AM I SAID for the feature video today.
There was a report on military suicides being 20% higher than last year. That was like a dagger to my heart because I dedicated 38 years of my life to that cause. With all the nonsense getting the attention online, they couldn't find me anymore, so I thought as a 10 time civilian survivor, I may be of more use to regular people like me. With over 8 million Americans diagnosed with PTSD, they are getting less attention than the veterans. Right now, I am taking my own advise and honoring my feelings to go toward healing afterwards. #BreakTheSilence and #TakeBackYourLife from #PTSD

But I got an emptiness deep inside
And I've tried
But it won't let me go
And I'm not a man who likes to swear
But I never cared
For the sound of being alone

I AM I SAID

L.A.'s fine, the sun shines most the time
And the feeling is "lay back"
Palm trees grow and rents are low
But you know I keep thinkin' about
Making my way back
Well I'm New York City born and raised
But nowadays
I'm lost between two shores
L.A.'s fine, but it ain't home
New York's home
But it ain't mine no more
"I am"... I said
To no one there
And no one heard at all
Not even the chair
"I am"... I cried
"I am"... said I
And I am lost and I can't
Even say why
Leavin' me lonely still
Did you ever read about a frog
Who dreamed of bein' a king
And then became one
Well except for the names
And a few other changes
If you talk about me
The story is the same one
But I got an emptiness deep inside
And I've tried
But it won't let me go
And I'm not a man who likes to swear
But I never cared
For the sound of being alone
"I am"... I said
To no one there
And no one heard at all
Not even the chair
"I am"... I cried
"I am"... said I
And I am lost and I can't
Even say why
"I am"... I said
"I am"... I cried
"I am"
