PTSD Patrol We Need Highway to Healing

PTSD Pzartol
Kathie Costos
October 12, 2020

Today the feature video is Twisted Sister We're Not Gonna Take It because anyone dealing with PTSD has had enough of the talk from our elected officials. We're tired of them telling us we have a problem when WE LIVE WITH IT and are tied of them telling us what they did hasn't worked but their are going to do more of the same. This is all BS!

The Senate proved they can do what they want as fast as they want with the hearing on the Supreme Court nominee, but they didn't see the need to hold hearings on the pandemic that is killing all of us and making PTSD worse! ENOUGH! These yahoos want our votes and it is about time we make them earn them!
I hope I am in a better mood tomorrow.... #BreakTheSilence and #TakeBackYourLife FROM OUR CONGRESS!

Oh, we're not gonna take it
No, we ain't gonna take it
Oh, we're not gonna take it anymore
We've got the right to choose it
There ain't no way we'll lose it
This is our life, this is our song
We'll fight the powers that be, just
Don't pick our destiny 'cause
You don't know us, you don't belong
Oh, we're not gonna take it
No, we ain't gonna take it
Oh, we're not gonna take it anymore
Oh, you're so condescending
Your gall is never ending
We don't want nothin', not a thing from you
Your life is trite and jaded
Boring and confiscated
If that's your best, your best won't do
Whoa, oh oh
Whoa, oh oh
We're right (yeah)
We're free (yeah)
We'll fight (yeah)
You'll see (yeah)
Whoa, whoa, we're not gonna take it
No, we ain't gonna take it
Oh, we're not gonna take it anymore
We're not gonna take it
No, we ain't gonna take it
Oh, we're not gonna take it anymore
No way
Whoa, oh oh
Whoa, oh oh
We're right (yeah)
We're free (yeah)
We'll fight (yeah)
You'll see (yeah)
We're not gonna take it
No, we ain't gonna take it
We're not gonna take it anymore
We're not gonna take it (no)
No, we ain't gonna take it
we're not gonna take it anymore
Just you try and make us
We're not gonna take it
(Come on!)
No, we ain't gonna take it
(You're all worthless and weak)
We're not gonna take it anymore
(Now drop and give me twenty)
We're not gonna take it
(A pledge pin)
No, we ain't gonna take it
(On your uniform)
We're not gonna take it anymore

PTSD Patrol Get Together

In 1967 a song came out by the Youngbloods "Get Together" and it filled people with hope. The song was so powerful it never stopped being played.

It was a time to chaos and war, protests and peace marches. Families were being torn apart by everything, but the song offered another message of love.

When something happens to us, something so terrible that PTSD begins to take hold, the worst memory of it can become the most predominate one. Yet within that horrible memory, there also other memories of the people who came to help you. We live in very chaotic times now. We are surrounded by hateful, hurtful people who want to make us feel miserable so they feel better about themselves. We have natural disasters all over the country. We have protests and families being torn apart. We also have men and women doing whatever they can to make the road to recovery easier for you. If have said it often that we see what we choose to see. Now I am saying that what we you see is what you seek. Seek what is still good and you'll find it. Seek what is hopeful and you will be filled with it. Seek what is based on love and you will be empowered by it!

Love is but a song to sing
Fear's the way we die
You can make the mountains ring
Or make the angels cry
Though the bird is on the wing
And you may not know why
Come on people now
Smile on your brother
Everybody get together
Try to love one another
Right now
Some may come and some may
go
We shall surely pass
When the one that left us here
Returns for us at last
We are but a moment's sunlight
Fading in the grass
Come on people now
Smile on your brother
Everybody get together
Try to love one another
Right now
Come on people now
Smile on your brother
Everybody get together
Try to love one another
Right now
Come on people now
Smile on your brother
Everybody get together
Try to love one another
Right now
If you hear the song I sing
You will understand (listen!)
You hold the key to love and fear
All in your trembling hand
Just one key unlocks them both
It's there at your command
Come on people now
Smile on your brother
Everybody get together
Try to love one another
Right now
Come on people now
Smile on your brother
Everybody get together
Try to love one another
Right now
I said, come on people now
Smile on your brother
Everybody get together
Try to love one another
Right now
Right now
Right now

PTSD Patrol Mental Healing Awareness Day

PTSD Patrol

Kathie Costos

October 1, 2020

The World Health Organization (WHO) made World Mental Health Awareness Day....because mental health is a problem across the entire world.

The problem with awareness days is, it is like seeing a house on fire, gathering together and watching it, instead picking up a hose or calling 911 so the fire department can come and put it out.

No one is really doing much to take the problem and fix it! Saying something is happening, is not the same as doing anything about it.

World Mental Health Day is observed on 10 October every year, with the overall objective of raising awareness of mental health issues around the world and mobilizing efforts in support of mental health. The Day provides an opportunity for all stakeholders working on mental health issues to talk about their work, and what more needs to be done to make mental health care a reality for people worldwide.

That is why today the feature video is The Doors People Are Strange.

When people know how much power they do have over mental illness, things change for the better. When people know they can heal, they have hope that their lives can get better, and they seek it.

Want to change the outcome? Then change the conversation!

People are strange when you're a stranger
Faces look ugly when you're alone
Women seem wicked when you're unwanted
Streets are uneven when you're down

When you're strange
Faces come out of the rain
When you're strange
No one remembers your name
When you're strange
When you're strange
When you're strange

People are strange when you're a stranger
Faces look ugly when you're alone
Women seem wicked when you're unwanted
Streets are uneven when you're down

When you're strange
Faces come out of the rain
When you're strange
No one remembers your name
When you're strange
When you're strange
When you're strange

When you're strange
Faces come out of the rain
When you're strange
No one remembers your name
When you're strange
When you're strange
When you're strange

PTSD Patrol he ain't heavy

PTSD Patrol
Kathie Costos
October 9, 2020

Today the feature video is the Hollies, He Ain't Heavy...He's my brother. The song is about taking care of someone who matters to you. That is what friends are supposed to do for one another. Sharing burdens, as much as they are share joys. When you have PTSD, it can be hard at times to open up and ask for help, even when you are with someone you trusted to a point. Just remember that if they really are your friend, they will listen, support you, and do whatever they can to help you on your road to recovery. It doesn't have to be such a lonely road for you. By now you should know enough about PTSD to be able to explain it to someone who does not know what it is.Trust they enough to ask for help and ask them to just listen. Real friends always will. #BreakTheSilence and #TakeBackYourLife from #PTSD

The road is long
With many a winding turn
That leads us to who knows where
Who knows where
But I'm strong
Strong enough to carry him
He ain't heavy, he's my brother
So on we go
His welfare is of my concern
No burden is he to bear
We'll get there
For I know
He would not encumber me
He ain't heavy, he's my brother
If I'm laden at all
I'm laden with sadness
That everyone's heart
Isn't filled with the gladness
Of love for one another
It's a long, long road
From which there is no return
While we're on the way to there
Why not share
And the load
Doesn't weigh me down at all
He ain't heavy he's my brother
He's my brother
He ain't heavy, he's my brother, he ain't heavy

PTSD Patrol Train of Hope

PTSD Partol
Kathie Costos
October 8, 2020

Today the featured video is Bruce Springsteen, Hope and Dreams, This Train. It got me thinking of how people can get a narrow line of vision where all they see is what is negative. If that is all you look for, then you do not see what is good, what is possible and discover something to hope for. With PTSD, you tend to cling to misery because it is what you know is there, but when you open your eyes to the hope of healing, that is what you begin to search for. It is a lot better to look at your life with hope than it is to settle for what you have. #BreakTheSilence and #TakeBackYourLife from #PTSD

Oh oh this train, I'm riding this train
Don't you wanna ride
(This train)
Oh get on, get on (this train)
Grab your ticket and your suitcase
Thunder's rolling down the tracks
You don't know where you're goin' now
But you know you won't be back
Darlin' if you're weary
Lay your head upon my chest
We'll take what we can carry
And we'll leave the rest
Big wheels rolling through fields
Where sunlight streams
Meet me in a land of hope and dreams
I will provide for you
And I'll stand by your side
You'll need a good companion
For this part of the ride
Leave behind your sorrows
Let this day be the last
Tomorrow there'll be sunshine
And all this darkness past
Big wheels roll through fields
Where sunlight streams
Meet me in a land of hope and dreams
This train carries saints and sinners
This train carries losers and winners
This train carries whores and gamblers
This train carries lost souls
I said, this train dreams will not be thwarted
This train faith will be rewarded
This train hear the steel wheels singin'
This train bells of freedom ringin'
This train carries saints and sinners
This train carries losers and winners
This train carries whores and gamblers
This train carries lost souls
I said, this train carries broken-hearted
This train thieves and sweet souls departed
This train carries fools and kings
This train, all aboard
I said, this train dreams will not be thwarted
This train faith will be rewarded
This train hear the steel wheels singin'
This train bells of freedom ringin'
Come on this train
People get ready
You don't need no ticket
All you got do is just get on board
On board this train
This train, people get ready

You don't need no ticket (oh I know you don't)
You don't need no ticket you just get on board (people get ready)
You just thank the Lord (people get ready)
Come on this train (people get ready)
