PTSD Patrol head on the highway toward healing

PTSD Patrol

Were you born to be wild or was your imagination? I remember as a young kid in school reading history books and imagination what it was like to be them. What was it like to be the people who decided they didn't want to be under British rule anymore? They knew that they would be hated by people they knew but it was worth it to them to lose them in order to gain freedom for everyone. They were willing to pay whatever price they had to pay.

When I read books about different parts of the world, I thought about how wonderful it would be to see all those places and experience all the beauty around the world. My imagination ran wild with possibilities.

Your imagination was also born to be wild. Sometimes it can be a bad thing, when doubts and fears flood your thoughts, trapping you with all the pain PTSD caused. Yet when your imagination is fueled with hope, then you see the obstacles but figure out a way to either get over them or get around them.

What is your wild mind trying to tell you about this ride?

I like smoke and lightnin'
Heavy metal thunder
Racin' with the wind
And the feelin' that I'm under

The only limits you have are the ones you self impose. Time to "get your motor runnin'" and head up highway to healing!

Remember, it is your life...get in and drive it! #BreakTheSilence and #TakeBackYourLife from #PTSD

Steppenwolf - Born To Be Wild (Easy Rider) (1969)
Get your motor runnin'
Head out on the highway
Lookin' for adventure
And whatever comes our way
Yeah, darlin', go make it happen
Take the world in a love embrace
Fire all of your guns at once and
Explode into space
I like smoke and lightnin'
Heavy metal thunder
Racin' with the wind
And the feelin' that I'm under
Yeah, darlin', go make it happen
Take the world in a love embrace
Fire all of your guns at once and
Explode into space
Like a true nature's child
We were born, born to be wild
We can climb so high
I never wanna die
Born to be wild
Born to be wild
Get your motor runnin'
Head out on the highway
We're lookin' for adventure
And whatever comes our way
Yeah, darlin' go make it happen
Take the world in a love embrace
Fire all of your guns at once and
Explode into space
Like a true nature's child
We were born, born to be wild
We can climb so high
I never wanna die
Born to be wild
Born to be wild

PTSD Patrol road of truth and honesty

PTSD Patrol

Truth and Honesty! Why is it important when you have PTSD? Without it, you continue to suffer, and so does your family. They have no idea what is going on with you, so they blame themselves, searching for a way to understand why you changed. They have no way of knowing why you are no longer happy, or why you react the way you do. When they do know, then they want to help you heal.

I have seen too many families fall apart when the other person was loving and kind but were not given the chance to help. They ended up being bitter. Kids blamed themselves. No one was happy anymore.

Yet when the family knows that you are hurting, they understand where the change came from and they try to help you. Kids will want to help and may hug you more. Your spouse won't want you to sleep on the couch and get as far away from you as possible, because they understand you're suffering has nothing to do with them or how you feel about them, but that you need them and want them in your life.

Much happier ending for everyone!

That is why today the feature video is Aretha Franklin, Truth And Honesty! Enjoy!

Remember it is your life, get in an drive it! #BreakTheSilence and #TakeBackYourLife from #PTSD

I would like to see a show of hands
Nothin' concealed, roll up your sleeve
Nothin' up my [Incomprehensible] except my heart
And I believe we've come apart
I would like to see you play your cards
Reveal your hands and show your heart
Maybe we could get it back
With truth and honesty that's what we need to hold on
To the good stuff we believe in
Before we land up loose and sad and free

Before we find that it's gone
We could pull it back together, truth and honesty
Open up your hands, show me your heart
Let's stay up till dawn and talk it out
Nothin' concealed, no alibi, retunin' to light
Before we start, then all we do is fall apart
If I can see the sunlight in your eyes
Then maybe we all could shine, yeah
Maybe we could get it back, oh baby, yeah baby
Oh, truth and honesty that is what we need to hold on
To the good stuff we believe in
Before we land up loose, sad and free
Before we find out all that is gone
We could pull it back together with truth and honesty, oh
Open up your hands, show me your heart
Truth and honesty, oh, that's what we need to hold on
To the good stuff we believe in
Before we land up loose and sad and free
Before we find out that it's gone
We could pull it back together, truth and honesty
Truth and honesty, you know what we need, sure enough within
To the good stuff, the good stuff baby
You got to be real, you got to be real, you got to be sugar
To the good stuff we believe in, you got to, you got to

My Lord
I have read this book so many times
But nowhere can I find the page
That chance, what I experience today has any grace
Now I know that life was meant to be hard
And that's how I learn to appreciate my God
Though my courage made me try
I can tell you I won't hide
Because the footprints show you are by my side
You can lie to a child with a smilin' face
Tell me that color ain't about race
You can cast the first stone, you can break my bones
But you're never gonna break
You're never gonna break my
Faith and hope ain't yours to give
Truth and liberty are mine to live
You can steal a crown from a king
Break an angels wings
But you're never gonna break
You're never gonna break my faith
My Lord
Won't you help them, help them
Help them to understand
That when someone takes the life of an innocent man
Well, they never really won, and all they've really done
Is set the soul free where it's supposed to be
You can lie to a child with a smilin' face
Tell me color ain't about race
You can cast the first stone, you can break my bones
But you're never, ever, ever
You're never gonna break my
Faith and hope ain't yours to give
Truth and liberty are mine to live
Steal a crown from a king
Break an angels wings
But you're never, ever, ever
You're never gonna break my faith
For those we lose before their time
I pray that their souls will find the light
I know that the day will surely come
When His will, His will, will be done
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, oh yeah
Yeah, yeah, oh yeah
His will, will be, His will will be done
(Never gonna break my faith)
Oh yeah, His will will be done
You're never gonna break my faith
Oh no, you know you won't
You're never, never, never

Never, never, never, never, never Never, never, never, never, never, never
Never gonna break my faith
Oh you ain't gonna break my faith

PTSD Patrol The Voice

PTSD Patrol

November 16, 2020

I was reading that more veterans committed suicide and I had to shut down the computer, and walk away. I just couldn't stand it. How can all this still be happening? It is because for all the people out there, like me, for years with the knowledge and experience are not involved in anything they are doing. The people doing the planning are not interested in what works.

VA PREVENTS
The plan focuses on improved research into veteran suicide, increased suicide-prevention training and new partnerships between government agencies and outside organizations. Some veterans groups and lawmakers have criticized the plan for not being bold enough.

Sherman Gillums, chief advocacy officer for AMVETS, said the impact of PREVENTS so far “hasn’t lived up to expectation.”

“The roadmap for preventing suicide at all levels remains in the abstract, with no real practical application,” he said.

Despite efforts in Washington and continued boosts to VA funding, the rates of veteran suicide have shown no sign of slowing. Between 2005 and 2017, 78,875 veterans took their own lives — more than the number of Americans killed in each major conflict except for World War II and the Civil War.

Anyway, it made me think about a friend of mine who told me one day, he came close to committing suicide the night before. When I asked him why he didn't call me, he said he didn't have to. My voice was already in his head.

What are the voices in your head? Are they filling you with doubts and making you feel worse or are they filling you up with hope and making you feel better?

Today the feature video is Celtic Women The Voice.

Remember it is your life....get in and drive! #BreakTheSilence and #TakeBackYourLife from #PTSD

I hear your voice on the wind
And I here you call out my name
"Listen my child, " you say to me
"I am the voice of your history
Be not afraid, come follow me
Answer my call and I'll set you free"
I am the voice in the wind and the pouring rain
I am the voice of your hunger and pain
I am the voice that always is calling you
I am the voice, I will remain
I am the voice in the fields when the summer's gone
The dance of the leaves when the autumn winds blow
Ne'er do I sleep throughout all the cold winter long
I am the force that in springtime will grow
I am the voice of the past that will always be
Filled with my sorrow and blood in my fields
I am the voice of the future
Bring me your peace
Bring me your peace and my wounds, they will heal
I am the voice in the wind and the pouring rain
I am the voice of your hunger and pain
I am the voice that always is calling you
I am the voice
I am the voice in the past that will always be
I am the voice of your hunger and pain
I am the voice of the future
I am the voice
I am the voice
I am the voice
I am the voice

Healthcare workers vs wusses

PTSD Patrol
Kathie Costos
November 15, 2020

This is not going to be one of those happy, uplifting messages. I am pissed off! I am so tired of people running around the country, so selfish and filled with hate that those who take care of others out of love, are suffering and wondering when the day will come for them to have some time to rest.

Spend all your time waiting
For that second chance
For a break that would make it okay
There's always some reason
To feel not good enough
And it's hard at the end of the day....  Harder than it has to be because these wussy babies whine about not wanting to wear a fricken mask! So you have to suffer, people have to spend months in ICU units and others have to wait for the call to let them know someone they loved, will never come home.

A four year old lost both of his parents because of COVID 19 and his family is pleading with people to put a mask on. Thinking about what this child will grow up carrying with him, knowing that selfish people didn't care they spread this killer and let his parents be taken away from him, we just too much for me today!

SAN ANTONIO (KXAN/NBC) — A four-year-old in San Antonio has lost both his mother and his father to COVID-19.

Raiden Gonzalez’s mother Mariah died from COVID-19 in October, just a few months after the disease killed his father Adan.

Raidan’s relatives say the deaths have been devastating to the boy who is supposed to celebrate his fifth birthday in just a few days.
Raiden’s great-aunt says, “We’ve lost two people now to COVID-19 and I can’t emphasize enough the severity, the seriousness and the hurt that this pandemic can cause, so wear your mask, be safe.”
Healers and protectors in isolation right now need to help each other is a post I put up a while ago and have not done one about what you are going through. I am sorry and on behalf of the people who do appreciate everything you are willing to do, we also know that there is no need of you going through most of this crap right now if people would stop whining about what they want to do! The rest of us are waiting to do what we want to do because they refuse to stop putting themselves first~

Spend all your time waiting
For that second chance
For a break that would make it okay
There's always some reason
To feel not good enough
And it's hard at the end of the day
I need some distraction
Oh, beautiful release
Memories seep from my veins
Let me be empty
Oh, and weightless, and maybe
I'll find some peace tonight
In the arms of the angel
Fly away from here
From this dark, cold, hotel room
And the endlessness that you fear
You are pulled from the wreckage
Of your silent reverie
You're in the arms of the angel
May you find some comfort here
So tired of the straight line
And everywhere you turn
There's vultures and thieves at your back
The storm keeps on twisting
That you make up for all that you lack
It don't make no difference
Escaping one last time
It's easier to believe in this sweet madness
Oh, this glorious sadness
That brings me to my knees
In the arms of the angel
Fly away from here
From this dark, cold, hotel room
And the endlessness that you fear
You are pulled from the wreckage
Of your silent reverie
You're in the arms of the angel
May you find some comfort here
You're in the arms of the angel
May you find some comfort here

PTSD Patrol racing with destiny

PTSD Patrol
Kathie Costos
November 14, 2020

I broke my heart
Fought every gain
To taste the sweet
I face the pain
I rise and fall
Yet through it all
This much remains
I want one moment in time
When I'm more than I thought I could be
When all of my dreams are a heartbeat away
And the answers are all up to me
Give me one moment in time
When I'm racing with destiny
Then in that one moment of time
I will feel
I will feel eternity
Those are the words from the feature video today, the incomparable Whitney Houston's One Moment In Time.

Do those words sound like you and your life now? If you've been watching these videos and discovering what you needed to know about PTSD, I believe you see yourself clearly.

Beginning to taste the sweet may be even sweeter because of the bitterness you used to know. It may be because the pain you felt for far too long has also made you feel this aliveness more profoundly.

I hope you have far more than one moment in time discovering you can be more than you thought you could be, and if you do, pass it on so others can have these moments too!

Remember it is your life and you need to get in and drive it!

#BreakTheSilence and #TakeBackYourLife from #PTSD

Each day I live
I want to be
A day to give
The best of me
I'm only one
But not alone
My finest day
Is yet unknown
I broke my heart
Fought every gain
To taste the sweet
I face the pain
I rise and fall
Yet through it all
This much remains
I want one moment in time
When I'm more than I thought I could be
When all of my dreams are a heartbeat away
And the answers are all up to me
Give me one moment in time
When I'm racing with destiny
Then in that one moment of time
I will feel
I will feel eternity
I've lived to be
The very best
I want it all
No time for less
I've laid the plans
Now lay the chance
Here in my hands
Give me one moment in time
When I'm more than I thought I could be
When all of my dreams are a heartbeat away
And the answers are all up to me
Give me one moment in time
When I'm racing with destiny
Then in that one moment of time
I will feel
I will feel eternity
You're a winner for a lifetime
If you seize that one moment in time
Make it shine
Give me one moment in time
When I'm more than I thought I could be
When all of my dreams are a heartbeat away
And the answers are all up to me
Give me one moment in time
When I'm racing with destiny
Then in that one moment of time
I will be
I will be
I will be free
I will be
I will be free
