How much better do you feel on a hot day, after a rain storm comes through and cools things off? I love it when there is a sun shower ending the storm. That is the way it feels when you are in your own storm and someone says, "You are not alone" and you know that things just changed.
The featured video today is "Stand By Me" and there were 2 versions of it. I hope they remind you that fear does not have to be part of your life when you have someone standing by you.
That is what is happening all over the country as more and more people reach out to let you know they survived with the help of someone else, and so can you!
"It's up to you...what's your pleasure?" Isn't it about time someone asked you that question? If you have PTSD, you survived and that is worth celebrating!
After all the videos I've shared with speeches to help you heal, it seems like a great time to take a break from that and switch to some music.
If you are like me, you are listening to music in the vehicle you drive. I listen to oldies in the car and at home. Music has the power to change the mood I'm in, and safe bet, for you too, even if it is just for a few minutes.
With the pandemic raging across the country, mental health professionals have been seeing a spike in patients reporting vivid dreams. To tell you the truth, until I started to read about it, I thought I may have been in need of a mental health visit too. For me, my vivid dreams are always about snakes!
You don't have to have PTSD for this to happen but if you don't then you may be able to understand how trauma survivors have a hard time sleeping most of the time.
Today there will not be a video from me since I had an early dinner that included a Margarita! I am taking pit stop, so here is a great video from Debi Silber on healing after betrayal. Considering what we have going on....it is much needed.
See you tomorrow.....
Do You Have Post Betrayal Syndrome? | Debi Silber | TEDxCherryCreekWomen

She’s the author of the Amazon #1 bestselling book: The Unshakable Woman: 4 Steps to Rebuilding Your Body, Mind and Life After a Life Crisis, and has contributed to The Dr. Oz show, FOX, CBS, The Huffington Post, Forbes, Psychology Today, Health, Shape, WebMD, and Glamour to name a few. Her recent PhD study on how we experience betrayal-what holds us back, what helps us heal and what happens to us (physically, mentally and emotionally) when the people closest to us lie, cheat and deceive made three groundbreaking discoveries.
Shauna Quigley is the feature video today. She is talking about when she was young and grew up with a problem..alcoholism in the family, tragic death and multiple traumas.
As I was listening to her, it sounded a lot like my life. My wakening moment came when one night when I was about 7, I woke up in the middle of the night and headed to the bathroom. As I walked down the hall, the light was coming from across the street and made a door glow. I swear to this day, it was the face of Jesus. I was comforted.
Like Shauna, experts said that I should have had PTSD and all the other problems that come along with it. I didn't. Sure I went through all the symptoms that come with shock, but PTSD did not take hold for long. That is, not until I was much older and my ex-husband tried to kill me, and then stalked me for a very long time.
For the most part, I was able to fight on unless I heard a muscle car and the engine rev. Adrenaline rush, heart racing, flashbacks and fear would take over for seconds until I could remind myself it was not him and I survived the worst he could do.
Rationally that fear should have not followed me down the east coast, but it did until my cousin sent me his obituary clipping from the newspaper.
But I overcame all of it! So can you. I hope that you find comfort on these pages and daily reminders that the only thing you are limited by, is giving up. This is a hill that you can get over and sometimes, you need to go into overdrive to do it~
